Pairings: Eat & Drink Baja

The Bodin Street Family Serves up a Treat

Like many wine lovers, we are constantly thinking about pairings! And we get questions about complementary foods all the time - so its a good thing we like to cook! (And eat). Because we have answers for you!

Or at least, some good ideas.

We're always on the lookout for great recipes, and recently we've found some great dishes that work wonderfully with some of our favorite Baja wines. Try them out and let us know what you think!

Fish Tacos + Henri Lurton Chenin Blanc

The White:  2018 Bodegas Henri Lurton Chenin Blanc (White) Region:  Valle de Guadalupe Tasting Notes: 100% Chenin Blanc. Warm, golden bouquet and aroma of peaches, fresh apricots, white flowers, and acacia honey. Creamy, rich and dry with natural acidity. Food Pairing:  We like this recipe from Epicurious where the fish is sauteed, rather than deep fried:

Carnitas + Cavas Valmar Mezcla de Tinto

The Wine:  2018 Cavas Valmar Mezcla de Tintos (Red) Tasting Notes:  Red Blend: Nebbiolo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvigon, Merlot - whew! 12 months in French Oak; Intense red clean and bright. Aromas of red fruits -strawberries and raspberries. Also bananas, spice, and oak notes. Soft and supple tannins, dry, medium weight with fresh acidity. Food Pairing: We are hooked on Christopher Kimball's carnitas recipe in Milk Street. It's flavorful, juicy, and very, very tasty.
