Madera 5 started as a project begun in 2007:  5 friends + 1 basketball court = wine?  After a pick-up game at their children's school, the five founders, including Victor Segura (Owner of Las Nubes), worked on a plan to develop a wine brand that reflected their ideas of the best that the Valle del Guadalupe has to offer. 

The signature red blend: 60% Tempranillo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the majority of the production ( average 2,000 cases) also includes a 100% Nebbiolo, a Sauvignon Blanc /Chardonnay blend, and a CabernetSauvignon/Sangiovese Blend.  All grapes are from the premiere growing area, Valle de San Vincente, and some sourced from the Valle de la Grulla. Victor Segura makes the wine and wine production has increased from 250 cases in 2010 to a current level of over 6,000 cases. 

The group has success by sticking to this motto: "We have a rule in the partnership -- when three decide, that's it..."
