Domaine Merlin-Cherrier
Thierry and Sophie Merlin founded the Domaine Merlin-Cherrier in 1982. Thierry is the fourth generation to farm vines in the Loire Valley. Thierry works 14 hectares of vines in the village of Bue surrounding the walled town of Sancerre.
Bue's soils are composed of Sancerre's two primary types: Caillotes (stony, compact chalk soil which produces perfumed, elegant wines) and Terres Blanches ('white land' limestone pebbles and rocks producing firm, rich, broadly floral aromatics, precise and wines with finesse. Domaine Merlin-Cherrier produces consistently outstanding Sancerre year in and year out.
