In 2005 Jorge and his wife Ana Laura Valencia decided to turn his hobby and passion into a business venture, he would be dedicated to winemaking and Ana Laura would see to marketing and distribution. During the first years the production was small and for personal use, but since 2009 production has increased to an average of 3,200 cases per year.

Cava Maciel strives to produce wines under rigorous wine-making standards, using only the finest quality of grapes to obtain a final product which is manufactured with great care, guaranteeing the quality of wines throughout all vintages. Being a family owned winery allows Cava Maciel to have complete control of the quality of their wines as well as personalized visits to all guests. At this Cava Maciel sources all of their grapes from three valleys: Valle de Guadalupe, Valle de Ojos Negros and Valle de San Vicente.
